I recently brought my 1956 Omega Seamaster De Luxe to Yasir at Renown Watch Services, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the first conversation, it was clear he genuinely cares about both the craft and the customer. Vintage watches are tricky, and mine had more issues than I realized, but Yasir walked me through everything with patience, transparency, and real expertise. The watch needed a full overhaul, repairs to multiple bent components, a new stem, crown, crystal, and rotor axle. Yasir explained each issue in detail, and made sure I understood the options before moving forward. There was zero pressure, just honest guidance. The end result speaks for itself. The movement runs beautifully, the patina on the dial was preserved exactly as I hoped, and the watch feels like it has a whole new life ahead of it. It’s rare to find someone with this level of skill who is also this approachable, trustworthy, and fair. If you have a vintage piece that matters to you, or any watch that deserves to be in the hands of someone who truly knows what they’re doing, I couldn’t recommend Yasir and Renown Watch Services more highly. I’ll be bringing all my watches here from now on.
I was looking for an independent watchmaker for service east of Toronto. I’d read a number of positive reviews about Renown, and contacted Yasir to discuss the various services I needed for three different watches. This happened through a combination of text messages and phone calls, which was very convenient. He was patient and answered all of my questions, and quoted reasonable pricing for each element of service I was inquiring about. Communication was fantastic! When I dropped the watches off, he re-confirmed the services that I wanted and sent me a text with a photo of each watch and the associated service. He also gave me an estimate of when they would be ready, with one watch needing a longer service time to complete the extensive polishing needed for the case and bracelet. Over the course of the next few days I had regular contact as he went through the steps of testing and addressing timing on the mechanical watch and then sharing pics of the other two watches getting polished. When I picked them up a few days later, the Seiko which had been running slow by 35 seconds per day was down to chronometer accuracy, and the two quartz beaters had been given new life with upgraded sapphire crystals, alternating brushed and polished case and bracelet polishing, new gaskets and a pressure test. It was great workmanship at very fair prices. I’ll definitely be taking more of my watches there in the future, and recommending others to do so as well. Thanks Yasir!
Couldn’t even get my pocket watch in for a repair assessment. Apparently this gentleman works outside of this business and is too busy to respond to an enquiry. Hate to see how long it would take to fix anything. Edit due to response: This gentleman responded to me only once by email. When I asked where to bring my watch as it seemed strange that there was no business address, he would not respond. Be careful. This is a private residence. You will have no ability to recover your belongings.
