I received a cut and color at Valentino's recently, and I am not impressed with either. Although everyone was friendly, my colour cost over $100 and basically looks the exact same as the colour I had before. I feel like a $20 toner could have done the same job. My cut is decent but not at all what I asked for/showed pictures of and I'm pretty sure one side is shorter and has more layers. Overall, not happy having to pay $200 (before tipping) for something I don't love..or even like. Giving 2 stars because the girls were nice...but I would never go back.

This was my 2nd visit to this salon and both times I've been pleased with the level of professional staff and service. At the time of my arrival, my hair was pretty much 1) Solar electrified, 2) Frizzy and frenzied, 3) Uncooperative style difficulty from this seasons serious out of control humidification and 4) Too many split ends all up in there! Basically to sum it up ... my hair was a birds nest! i.e. too thick, too long, matted, dry, knotted and tangled, definitely giving chewies locks a run his money. Anyhow, I was in a serious predicament with my long over grown cut being too difficult to style leaving me frustrated, so I called and booked an appointment to rectify this situation. The attendant booked me into a convenient time with Heather, who I found to be down to earth, friendly, helpful, interesting and fun to speak with. After she assessed the situation, she knew with confidence that she had the eye of magic to rectify this situation. As she began to cut all my dry damaged split ends out, then thinning, texturing and layering, the end results which ensued were par excellence! I'm absolutely extremely pleased with Heather's work and totally look forward to my next visit with her. Heather's cut is shown in this photo.

I have a new appreciation for the master stylist. My son had a dreadful haircut and I took him to Valentino's for help. Heather, a master stylist was amazing. She took control and gave advice even though he was not her client. She corrected an awful cut and my son left the salon without a hat on. Before Heather fixed his hair, he was afraid to be seen. Highly recommend her. She's worth it.

I have been coming here for almost 10 years now for cuts, styles, regular dye and radical hair colour. For the past year I have transitioned from bright pink to purple to blue hair with the amazing assistance of Dee! She is always amazing and helpful and plays with the colour to give me fresh new looks and works with what is there. The salon has been nothing but courteous to me and if mistakes were ever made - which has really only happened once years ago- it was fixed and I was always treated very well during each process. It's important that you experiment with the stylists and colourists in the salon to find someone that understands what you want and also let them be creative with your hair. When both parties are having fun with it, it always turns out better. I'd also like to add that I've read some reviews here from customers who tried to get the bright hair they wanted and complained about the colours coming out really fast even with sulphate free shampoos. This is not the fault of the salon and customers should be doing their fair share of research about fun coloured haired. It is a huge commitment to keep the colour in and does require a lot of at home attention, cold showers, treatments, masks, and colour depositing conditioner. You really have to be committed to maintaining the colours at home and on your own as they will not stay in your hair long regardless of who does it. Anyways! I'll likely never go anywhere else for my hair :)

I have been meaning to write this review for months. I never write reviews but in this case, I need to.I received a promotion at my job and a few of my co-workers wanted to give me something as a gift to celebrate. I had been talking for a couple of weeks about getting my hair balayaged. They pooled together their money for a gift card. I work in Toronto but live in Oshawa, so they researched a salon closer to my home so I could make an appointment whenever worked best for me. They decided on Valentino's. I was so excited. I booked an appointment for April 5. I have long, dark hair and sent an email ahead of time to let them know this so that time could be fairly allotted. I said I wanted natural looking balayage and a v-cut layered look. They said no problem. I was scheduled to sit with Allie, who they referred to as new but she specialized in balayage. The appointment was for 7 and would include a cut. I was expecting this to take time.Allie commented several times about the incredible condition of my hair. I have always been told that my hair looks and feels so healthy. That is no longer the case.Allie began using foils. I was a little surprised as I was under the impression that hand painting was the difference between balayage and foils but she said this was also a balayage technique. While I sat there, another employee came up to discuss Allie's reception schedule. I asked, "Are you the receptionist here?" because I thought it was odd a balayage specialist would be doing reception. She said she covers sometimes when needed. She checks the foils under the lamp many times, each time saying "5 more minutes" I started to get concerned as it seemed like a long time. After she took the foils out and comment several times about how great the colour lifted. Then asked what colour I would like? I said a caramel, a natural complement to the dark brunette I had. She finished. Told me how impressed she was with how it came out and sent me upstairs to get my hair cut. By this point, I realized we were coming up to over 2 1/2 of the appointment and I still needed the haircut. After a cut, and quick blow dry, I was being "politely" rushed out of the salon. It was well past closing. I really hadn't got a good look at my hair. When they waked me to the door, they locked it behind me. It was a little off-putting. Like I had been holding them up.When I got home, I was devastated. Firstly, my forehead, neck and ears were COVERED in the dye. When I was sitting in the chair, I had not noticed because it was styled down and covered most of these areas. When I pulled back the front of my hair, there was a straight dye mark across my forehead. I scrubbed these areas raw to get the dye off. At this point, it is about 11 pm and I have to leave for work at 7. Then I get a good look at the balayage. It starts low, about four inches from my part, is substantially lighter and is not gradient AT ALL. It is a straight line across my hair that goes from dark brunette to blonde. Like it was taped off and painted. A perfectly straight line. I couldn't put it in a ponytail because I could not get all the dye off my forehead. I cried. When I went to work the next day the women that paid for the gift card, kept apologizing. That is how bad it looked. One of the women, who had just had her hair balayaged a couple weeks earlier, and whose hair inspired me, kept saying, "That's not balayage. That's just dyed hair".A couple days later came the worst part. My hair was dead. Dry. Over processed. I paid over $200 for this!!!Since then, I have worn it in a bun 90% of the time. I recently had my roots done because they were grey and let the rinse water sit for a few minutes to try and darken the bottom. It worked a bit. It actually made a huge difference. But it's still dry and it is still nowhere near what I paid for and I paid a lot!I will say, I loved the cut and everyone said the same thing, "BUT the cut is nice". I am not sure what her name was. She was a last minute sub because the woman I was scheduled to meet with had left.
