Nice lady, clean restaurant. We just ordered s/s chicken balls, cashew chicken and spring rolls. The chicken balls were like Tim bits, all dough, very little chicken. The spring rolls had a doughy wrap instead of flaky. The cashew chicken was fair.
Nov. 29th 2025, we ordered pork wonton soup, chicken fried rice, Shanghai noodles swap BBQ Pork and Shrimp for the chicken add spice, and Combination Lo Mein, and we got Spring Rolls and Egg Rolls. The soup was average, expecting a few slices of BBQ Pork, was none. Soup stock was meh. Most likely powdered Chicken Bouillon. Take it or leave it. Needed to add sesame oil to it, would really improve it. The Fried Rice was OK. Kinda average too. Good amount of chicken in there though. The pieces were kinda big for fried rice. Flavour overall was OK. The Shanghai noodles are very good nothing to complain about there. The Lo Mein is very good too. The Spring Rolls and Egg Rolls were average as well. Overall not bad. They give it 4.5 as a score? 4 is more what you are looking at. 3.8 is more realistic. Not peeling the shrimp is a major problem for me as well. That's just lazy.
Best takeout Chinese food I've had in a very long time. Veg fried rice, beef and broccoli, chicken balls...pretty basic but it always seems to fall down at other spots. This one does it right! And their spring rolls are homemade. Nice value as well. This will be my new go-to for Chinese and Thai food. Next time, I will try the Thai golden curry. Thank you, Panda King!!!!
Here is a beautiful gem tucked away at Whitby and I was a lucky explorer to have found it and now have the pleasure of sharing my experience with you. The place is clean, the lady behind the counter, polite and respectful. The lunch special I got came with a spring roll, which was fresh and not oily, soup, fresh, tasty and deliciously spicy, the dish itself is fresh, plentiful, tasty and healthy. All under $15! They accept credit card payments. A place for sure to visit if you work around the area or hungry for good food. Good luck to King Panda. I'll be coming back.
The food we took was very sweet! We still like it and believe we should try other food from the menu. In terms of quantity it’s exactly for a person. So, if you really enjoy eating or are a meat eater I recommending ordering an extra dish. Full of vegetables or rice and not much protein / meat… the (sugary/ sweet) flavors remain delicious. We felt we wanted more after finishing all. A lot of sauce. The fried rice itself was very good. The price is correct. The place seems clean. Employees amazingly nice!
NOTE: This review is for Hai Thai. $10.10 lunch special - pad Thai, wonton soup, and a spring roll. Absolutely marvelous. Definitely found my new go-to Thai place. The portion was so much bigger than I expected, especially for the price point; it took me 9 hours to finish my meal. The wonton soup tasted brilliant, so nicely completing the rest of the meal. I loved the flavouring of the soup, and the appearance was elegant, as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the wontons that never came apart, and the soup was perfectly flavoured to complement the pad Thai. So amazing I got a chicken pad Thai that felt loaded with protein. I adore crushed peanuts and, therefore, appreciated the texture balance between the softness of the pad Thai and the crunchiness of the peanuts. Once again, flavourful noodles in a large takeaway container that I would love to order again. Lastly, the spring roll brought me back to years and years ago when I would savour my Filipino friend's mother's homemade spring rolls. Perfectly crispy on the outside and exploding with flavour on the inside. SO amazing. I am 100% looking forward to visiting here again. I do highly recommend this place -- it seems like an undiscovered gem in the area. It deserves so much more attention. And for a $10 lunch special? It's out of question a steal. You'd be daft to not try it out, at the very least. DEFINITELY pick up more spring rolls, though. SO DELICIOUS. Highkey craving them right now.
I miss Hai Thai. The food and quality has changed drastically and not for the better unfortunately. Great food and service. Been a return customer for a few years now.. this place is top of all the Thai places around in my opinion.. especially the high standard of quality control before food leaves the door. Hard to find owners that care this much!
