The store is clean and organized, and features a vast array of merchandise for kitchens & bathrooms at better prices than Stokes. I've purchased several items from this location over the years including wine glasses, a toaster, coffee mugs, rolling shopping bags, candles, kitchen utensils, and decorative seasonal items. Unfortunately, their line of Tuscany 3-wick candles are disappointing. I've purchased 4 different scents that smelled wonderful in the tin, but had very little to zero aroma while burning. Bath & Body Works candles are definitely superior. Otherwise, I like the store a lot, but I don't find the staff to be particularly helpful. And my recent experience with the manager has caused me to change locations.... during the Black Friday sale, I purchased 2 holiday items advertised with a large sign as Buy One at 9.99, get 50% off the second one (if you buy 2). The cashier recognized the merchandise as part of the sale, but the register scanned them up at regular price. She called for help from the manager who was working on a display with 2 other employees. It seemed odd & unnecessary that ALL 3 employees were working on the same thing while the store was relatively busy and there was virtually no customer service happening. Instead of the manager coming to the counter to help, she instructed the cashier to bring the items to her instead. I watched as she located the items on the wall, nodded that they were part of the sale, and told the cashier to try again or override the register. The cashier scanned them again, but it still didn't recognize the sale. She said she didn't have the authority for overrides and still required the manager (she also expressed frustration that the manager hadn't simply come to the counter in the first place). So again the cashier called for for the manager, but she sent an employee instead as she ventured to the back of the store. The employee identified himself as the assistant manager but claimed he couldn't do overrides either so he'd have to go get her. Meanwhile, a line up was forming at the cash counter. Finally, she arrived and saw for herself that both items were scanning at regular price. She looked as confused as the cashier had been, and then suddenly said it was because one of the items was on clearance so sale prices did not apply. I asked how customers were supposed to know which items were on clearance considering NONE of them were marked as such. Plus, there was virtually no difference between the items except the colour, and they were all displayed 'together as part of the sale'. Instead of answering my question, she instructed me to read the sale sign because it said "excluding clearance items" at the bottom in small print. I told her I recognized what the sign said; however, it failed to identify which items were clearance. And since they were all alike in style and were all hanging together, it was impossible for customers to know which was which. Again, she ignored my point and said she could walk me over to the sign to re-read it because I "obviously wasn't getting it". I recognized her sarcasm/insult but chose to ignore it and very calmly said that I was indeed getting it; however, she wasn't getting how misleading it was to display everything together under a sale sign without clearly marking or separating the products were not included. Therefore, I likely would not be the only customer that would be confused by it. Additionally, I pointed out that even SHE had been confused by it, otherwise she wouldn't have suggested that the cashier "override" the register. I never raised my voice, never insulted her or used sarcasm as she did, and treated our exchange simply as a conversation. I also said that I would purchase both items regardless of the situation. Therefore, as I was paying, I was shocked when she said that she didn't appreciate when her head office organized sales that resulted in her taking "abuse" from customers like me. Seemingly, asking a legitimate question was abusive in her opinion, and that's something that "I" didn't appreciate!!
I’m really disappointed in the store managers approach towards customers. Alarmist as if me being a customer was an inconvenience. I was asking for a price and apologized for interrupting his walk to the way and he huffed at me and told me the price I said thank you and rudely walked away. Sir if you’re a bitter old fart, maybe find a job that doesn’t involve customers in their face. I also noticed upon check out there was a new staff who was clearly struggling and he kept leaving her alone to “figure it out” poor girl had to run during each transaction to find someone to help her. My goodness this man is a horrible example of what someone in management would look like. KSP do better. I was a frequent shopper at this location, but I would much rather take my business elsewhere since I’m clearly an inconvenience to this store.
Lined up no one else in line the cashier and her coworker were doing boxes I’m sure they knew I was there and a delivery person came in too and they dealt with that box the women was at the cash but she would rather do boxes than cash’s me out ! Terrible customer service I know he saw me but didn’t tell the women so I just left . Never again ! Awful don’t even deserve a star
Nina and Rosen were amazing today. They helped me find what I was looking for very quickly and were happy to help. I will be going to this location (Whitby) from now on.
I wanted to leave a review and thank the employees who were so wonderful, helpful, and kind when I dropped off a large sock donation for the Socks 4 Souls sock drive December 10th. From the manager who I spoke to in advance/helped when I arrived, to the cashier who went and let the manager know I was there (it was their first day and they handled my arrival so well!), to the employee who helped me get the donation bags from my car, you all were so genuinely friendly and helpful, it made my day! I've never been in the Whitby North location before, and I will absolutely be coming there to shop the next time I'm in the area. Thank you all again!
Tried to return ann Item and was denied. Accused of having used the item. Argumentative and rude. Kitchen stuff does not honour return policy of 30 days. Never to shop at this store again In particular the Whitby store manager RACQUEL beware of this obnoxious woman. Should not be in the position she is in! Karen and Wayne
The managers at this store are awful. I have had two instances with two different managers where I was literally yelled at while trying to return something. It would appear they don't like people returning things so they are rude about it. LOL Won't shop at this location again, I'll go to a different one.
