I went through the full adoption application process with Oasis, including a visit to meet a specific cat. I drove over an hour to meet him in person, only to find out once I arrived that he had a heart murmur and a suspected diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). This had never been disclosed in any of our earlier communications. Despite that, I was still very open to adopting him. I’ve owned pets with health issues before. My last cat lived until nearly 19, seven years beyond his initial diagnosed prognosis. I live two blocks from my vet, my pet sitter is a vet tech — I know what I'm doing when it comes to cats. After the initial meeting, Karen, the foster coordinator, told me that I had been selected as the adopter from the final three candidates. I was congratulated and given a pickup time for the following day — Karen even hugged me. I went home, started setting up everything for the kitty's arrival, and sent Janet a follow-up email asking for more information about the health issue so I could speak with my vet and develop a care plan to give him the best possible chance at a long, healthy life. I received a series of inconsistent responses from Janet: first, it was a “possibility” of HCM, then it was “he had a murmur and was on medication,” then "is this a concern for you?". Then she didn't "have the paperwork at hand", then “let me consult further with Karen and get back to you tomorrow.” That’s a lot of shifting detail with no records to back any of it up. Instead of receiving any concrete answers, I got an email the next morning saying they had decided to go with another adopter, citing concern that the cat's condition might be too emotionally difficult for me because I had recently lost a pet. When I responded to express my confusion — since I had been told I was the chosen adopter — Janet's explanation shifted again: I wasn’t disqualified, she said, but someone else was a “better fit” — even though at the meeting I was told that I was the best fit, and the foster parents both expressed the same sentiment. At no point was this inconsistency addressed, or my original questions about his diagnosis answered. The lack of transparency, poor communication, and the decision to withhold key medical information until I had already made the trip felt deeply unprofessional. The approval after the meeting, and the subsequent swift denial when I asked a few basic questions that any potential adopter should ask, felt concerningly shady. Based on other reviews here (and the unprofessional replies I've seen from the organization), and a few other sources, it’s clear this is not an isolated situation. I’m sharing this so future adopters know what to expect. Before getting your heart broken, ask every question you can, and get all vet records in writing. I'm anticipating their standard defensive reply to this review, and I'm happy to post screenshots if needed to back up my story. It's probably best to sort these reviews by lowest first so you get an accurate picture of how they speak to/about people who critique their murky process.

I'm not too sure why there are so many negative reviews, (It sounds like people don't know how a rescue works and they feel entitled). I had the best experience with Janet! After having my 3 female guinea pigs for 4 years, I had to rehome them due to an allergy. I reached out to Janet and she let me know how everything worked, (I had a lot of questions and Janet always got back to me the same day. She was very professional). I met the new owner who was interested in my girls and we had a lovely meet and greet. I had reached out to other rescues but wasn't happy with the vibe I was getting. Janet was so friendly and welcoming, we spoke on the phone and she made me comfortable in my decision choosing Oasis Animal Rescue ❤️

I adopted my sweet boy Dexter from here (the perfect gentleman cat) in 2020. Karen and Janet were both kind and patient with me while I was discussing which cat would likely be a best fit as I was in an apartment at the time. I went with Dexter (an adult cat at 6 years old at the time). They lent me a carrier to take him home in as mine was too small for the big guy. Karen and Janet were even in communication with me for a while after adoption looking for updates and also updating me on Dexters past foster home. He came with vet records and all. Dexter is still doing great as we enter our fourth year together! Everyone that meets him loves him, and he is a big brother to Bella now. Thank you Oasis Animal Rescue!
Janit has been great introducing me to meet Milo a brown Wiener dog that needed a home ..me and Kirk my black and tan wiener dog will be taking him home this weekend .can't wait .Oasis is giving animals a second chance in life .dosnt get any better than that .thanks Oasis !
I adopted a kitty from here and when problems came up, Karen was responsive and helpful. Grateful that she helped us solve the issue..now we are happy with our gorgeous cat!
